Valued partner to visionary innovators.
We’re exceptionally proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with some of the world’s leading brands and OEMs. And we’re equally proud of our work for innovative start-ups, from concept and design through prototyping and manufacturing.
Confidentiality is critically important to us, so no names, but here are some examples of our work:
We have designed, developed, and manufactured protective cases across all different types of devices, using a wide range of materials and processes, and understanding that speed to market is essential.
In a maturing market, Sigma continues to help innovative clients find new ways to differentiate their products, all while ensuring that experimentation is done in a manner that creates real value and meets cost objectives.
Sigma has a proven process for delivering protective solutions as designed, on time and as quoted. And our team works closely with clients to define success criteria, understand project milestones, and create a plan that drives product innovation at competitive costs.
Sigma has been the design, engineering, and manufacturing partner for major brands looking to grow through new and innovative accessories. We have literally manufactured tens of millions of protection solutions for our clients.
We applied our mechanical design, engineering, and rapid prototyping expertise to help a well-known maker of innovative accessories develop a new charging stand that combines plastics and metals for one of the world’s largest electronics retailers.
Working from the client’s very preliminary sketch, Sigma had to bring the design to manufacturability within a tight timeline or the program would be canceled. All mechanical design, engineering, prototyping, and testing would need to be done on a compressed schedule to leave enough time for tooling, assembly, and shipping.
We developed multiple design options and analyzed the pros and cons of each. Once the client selected a final design, we ran all aspects of development, tooling, and testing in parallel to meet the aggressive schedule and hit launch. Collaborating with the client to identify potential risks, we put mitigation plans in place.
The product was launched successfully on time, with great sell through and rave user reviews.
We worked with an early-stage start-up to help develop their augmented reality headset, accessory, and packaging – all against an aggressive deadline. Our client had no previous experience in hardware development and relied entirely on our expertise to develop solutions across plastics, soft goods, a custom optical lens, and packaging, while supporting a series of complex product development goals.
We created new processes and manufacturing techniques to bring a scientific and data-driven approach to product development. We built a team around the project and developed an optical lens that sits at the heart of an augmented reality experience – both transparent for viewing the real world and reflective for interacting with the software experience.
We executed on the headset, accessory, remote control, and packaging to deliver developer kits within eight months of our first meeting with the client.
We worked with a medical device start-up to help them develop a wearable band with integrated FPCBAs, wiring, and sensors for an FDA registered Class I medical device. The new device integrates sensitive electronics into a wearable band that can sense medical conditions in a patient, communicate with the core CPU, and provide a countervailing pulse to address the condition.
We partnered with a high-end soft goods design studio to identify biocompatible materials with traceability for FDA registration and create custom manufacturing equipment, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
The new device has been a tremendous success, gaining recognition as an effective, non-pharmacologic and non-surgical treatment option for patients and helping our customer secure a major new round of financing.
We worked with a leading e-reader brand to develop a new folio case made entirely of certified sustainable materials.
Leveraging Sigma’s years of R&D into sustainable materials, we created a program-specific library of all new potential materials, vetting them and their suppliers within normal development timelines. We worked with our customer’s design team to ensure that the new design would maintain existing reliability, look/feel, quality and price objectives.
By incorporating high post-consumer recycled materials into the new folio case, we helped our client reduce its carbon footprint and delivered not only the product, but also the certification and data to support these claims.
